Disclosure or dissemination of this information to others must be requested in writing by parents or guardians.
Child-Abuse

Two Week Trial Period
Christ Lutheran Children's Center cultivates the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of each child in a warm and loving Christ centered environment. It is because of this philosophy that we enforces the two week trial period. Your child will be on a two week trial period. During this time if your child bites, runs out of the classroom, leaves school property, or shows extreme aggressive behavior, you may be given notice that your child will be withdrawn. This policy is to protect other children as well as your own child. In some instances your trial period will be extended for another two weeks. There is no second chance for children who leave school property or show extreme aggressive behavior.
Personal Belongings
An individual cubby is provided for each child's personal belongings, including anything they need to take home such as daily art projects, newsletters, etc. Your teacher may also have a take home folder for paperwork. Classrooms have coat hooks for backpacks and coats; we ask that you label all outerwear clothing with your child's name. We ask that children do not bring personal toys, jewelry, or makeup from home unless there is show and tell or a project in the classroom, we cannot be responsible for broken or misplaced items. Please make sure that personal belongings such as sippy cups, bottles, pacifiers, and extra clothing are clearly labeled with your child's name.
Lunch Time
Christ Lutheran Children's Center provides a morning and an afternoon snack. It is the responsibility of the parent to bring in a cold lunch. Please bring your child's lunch in a clearly marked container or bag. We will keep the children's lunches in the refrigerator. Health Department policy does not allow our center to heat up any child's lunch. Please make sure your child's lunch does not require heating.
Make sure lunches are not full of sugar. A small candy for dessert or fruit snacks are ok, do not include any soda including diet or caffeine free. We do provide milk.
If your child's lunch is forgotten there will be a $5.00 fee for that day's lunch to be provided.
Please be sure that the teacher is aware of any allergies and diet restrictions before the start of the school year.
Allergies
If your child has any allergies, please be certain to make a note of it on the emergency card and enrollment forms. Also, when registering into our program, please discuss any special needs or allergies (food or environmental) with the Director. This will guarantee that we are equipped to handle each situation.
Nap Time
Nap time is from 1:00pm -2:45pm daily. If your child naps you are required to bring a fitted crib sheet and a small blanket (please no big pillows, stuffed animals, etc.). We supply the nap mat and lots of tender loving care. Please make sure you bring these items every Monday and take them home every Friday to be laundered. We have no laundry facility to wash sheets and blankets. If the crib sheet and blanket are forgotten, both items will be provided for child and you will be billed $4.00 for the weeks use, the cost is to pay to take the items to an outside facility to be laundered. Please make sure your items are clearly labeled with your child's name.
Non-Nap Policy
As children get older they tend to not need a nap as often as younger kids. This is why we opened up the non-nap room. Children are encouraged to do art, build with blocks, play dress up, read books, or watch a G-rated movie.
Parents may request that their child not lay down for a nap. Minimum age is 4 years old, all other children under 4 must take a nap.
Please keep in mind that if your child is aggressive, not listening, or otherwise showing signs of needing a down time (nap) we will send them to the nap room for a rest period.
Bad Check Policy
Christ Lutheran Children's Center understands that sometimes unfortunate things can happen that cause us to occasionally bounce a check. It is our policy to allow bounced checks to happen only once. If your check comes back a second time you will be required to make tuition payments in cash or by money order for a six month period. Please remember that our return check fee is $25.00.
Withdrawal Policy
If you wish to withdrawal your child from Christ Lutheran Children's Center please keep in mind the following policies:
You must provide two weeks written notice to withdrawal.
If written notification is not provided, you will be required to pay all fees for the program in which your child was scheduled to attend.
If your child is absent from the program for two weeks and you do not call to notify us, your child will be automatically withdrawn and can only be readmitted if space is available. You are responsible for the two weeks tuition.
If I wish to re-enroll, an additional Registration Fee will be due.
Vacation credit CANNOT be used for the last two weeks of attendance.
You will be responsible for all late fees in accordance with the contract, collection fees, and legal fees that accrue in the time it takes to collect the debt if you fail to pay your last two weeks. The account will be turned over to our collection agency after 30 days.
Discipline
Rules at Christ Lutheran Children's Center are made for the safety of our children. The staff will use positive, gentle methods of Christian discipline that encourage children to use self-control, self-direction, self-respect, respect for others, and cooperation. Children who are involved with their environment are less apt to experience behavioral difficulties. All discipline will be completed in a loving and caring manner with forgiveness rather than punishment as a goal. The use of physical punishment or harsh language will never be allowed.
We also believe children should be recognized for their good behavior, which also builds confidence and self-esteem. We will always offer praise in a sincere voice and praise a child for both effort and success. For children who do experience difficulties, our policy is to first redirect the child to other activities. With a calm voice and actions, children are reminded of the rules, then redirected and separated from the problem. Through direct, caring communication with the child, the teacher will explain the expectations of appropriate behavior and coach the child in some alternate behaviors or strategies. If further intervention is necessary, parents shall be notified. Our policy is one of loving discipline where clear, safe limits shall be set. shall be set.
Children's behavioral issues will be documented on an “Incident Report.” The report needs to be signed by the parent and will be placed in the child's file. You may request a copy for your records.
If a child damages or destroys school property, parents will assume full financial responsibility.
The following outline our discipline procedures:
An attempt by the teacher to redirect the child to another activity in the classroom.
Verbal reaction to child's behavior in a calm voice explaining the expectations.
A conference with the parents may be requested by the teacher if the behavior of a child continues to interfere with the preschool program. It is imperative that home and school cooperate with mutual goals and procedures.
If disruptive behavior cannot be corrected, the preschool has the responsibility to request that the parents withdraw their child. Dismissal of a child is considered only when the health, safety and welfare of that child, the rest of the children in the group, or our staff are at risk.
Dress Code
WE LIKE TO GET MESSY AT PRESCHOOL! When dressing your child for preschool, please consider the variety of activities in which they will participate. Please dress your child in comfortable clothes that your child can easily manipulate in the restroom. Clothing should also be washable -- we use cover-ups for painting with washable paints, markers and stamp pads but clothes still may come home with hard-to-remove spots or stains. We will play outdoors each day except in cases of extreme heat/cold, rainy, or windy weather. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather (which may include a jacket/coat, mittens, hats and boots). Play shoes are recommended. No thongs or floppy sandals, please. Girls dresses must fit appropriately - not too short. We have a very limited supply of clothing at the center; should your child use CLCC items please wash it and return it promptly.
Please label all outerwear clothing with your child's name.
Picture Permission
Pictures of the children may be published on Christ Lutheran Children's Center Web site. No children's names will be used on the site. Only pictures of the children at the preschool. This is for parents who would like to see what the children are doing at preschool or share web site pictures with grandparents, other family members, and friends, as well as promotional materials.

Parents are asked to notify the school immediately in event of any changes in address or telephone number. In case of an emergency, the staff will make every effort to reach the parents or the alternates listed on the "Child Information Card."

Exception: All bumps and injuries to the head that require first aid are reported to the parents immediately.
2. Serious Accidents
In the event a child receives a more serious injury, bump, or possible need for stitches, we will administer first aid and notify you immediately so you can seek a doctor's care if necessary.
If we cannot reach you or your child's doctor and we feel immediate medical attention is needed, we will call an ambulance or transport the child to an emergency facility in the company of a staff member.

Safety
One of our primary considerations is to insure that we maintain a safe and healthy environment for your children and our staff.
Please bring your child into the building and remain with your child until the teacher is present and class is ready to begin. Children should be accompanied into the school and a sign in sheet is provided in the entryway. If the children are playing outside before preschool starts, please make your child's teacher aware of your child's arrival. Each child must be signed in and out by the parent or responsible individual. For safety sake, children will only be released to those individuals authorized to pick up the child. A picture ID will be required in order to release a child to a person other than the parent/guardian. Notice of any additions or deletions to authorization form must be made in person by parent/guardian. If one parent has sole legal custody of a child, the school will then require that legal documentation for the child's file.
When you leave with your child, please be certain the teacher is notified and you sign your child out for the day. Please check your child's cubby (and folder) for art projects or newsletters.
